Amy Neener - Pet Care Specialist for Estes Park & Pinewood Springs Colorado

"My name is Amy Neener, and I have been a Pinewood Springs native all of my life. Pinewood Springs is located 7 miles from Estes Park and 8 miles outside of Lyons Colorado. As of November 2011 I have not relocated to Estes Park with my parents still living in Pinewood Springs. I enjoy the outdoors and wouldn't trade where I live for anything. I love all of the trails and outdoor activities our area has to offer and especially how dog-friendly the surrounding areas are. All through my life I have owned dogs, cats, rabbits, exotic pets, rodents, and horses. I have learned a lot about animals during my immense time spent with them.

With my experience working with animals, I have learned at that when a dog is pre occupied with something and not paying attention to me, you should never chase after them. By chasing them, it turns into a game and it pushes them farther away into a potentially dangerous situation. The best thing you can do is continue with what you are doing, if you are walking continue walking, but walk the other way, and make the dog think YOU are going to be way more exciting then what ever has caught their attention for the time being. It is always important to be present in the moment while working with animals and be fun for them as well as enjoying the moment yourself!
