Lyons Gulch Trail Head, Lyons Colorado The Lion Gulch Trail is a moderate hike ascending through the Roosevelt National Forest eventually leading to Homestead Meadows, where eight historical homesteads still remain. The homesteads were built in the late 1800's-early 1900's before most were abandoned. It is 2.7 miles to the first site, the length of the hike increases to 6.5 miles if all the homesteads are visited. The trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. It is a dog-friendly trail, too. The Lion Gulch trail also accesses Pierson Park. Dispersed Camping is permitted, Check out the Canyon Lakes Ranger District for camping and current regulations.
